Champion, PA - Scott L. Bender has recently been promoted to the Chief Executive Officer position at Seven Springs Mountain Resort. Bender has been with the southwestern Pennsylvania ski resort since 1983, and most recently acted as the President, Chief Operations Officer and Chairman of the Board. The change comes with the sale of the family-owned corporation from the Dupre Family to the Nutting Family of Wheeling, W.V. Bender was instrumental in the transition of the ski resort ownership.

Park City, UT - American Skiing Company yesterday announced its financial results for its fiscal 2006 year end and fourth quarter. The company cited strong season pass sales, continued growth at The Canyons resort in Utah and excellent performance of Colorado’s Steamboat resort as factors behind its record-setting revenue year. Despite this, financial losses continue at the company, which operates eight ski resorts across the U.S.

Middlebury, VT - Middlebury College officials have confirmed that, beginning this season, the Middlebury College Snow Bowl will be a carbon neutral ski facility. According to Middlebury College Assistant Treasurer and Director of Business Services Tom Corbin, “The Middlebury College Snow Bowl may well be the first ski area to take carbon neutrality to this level by offsetting electric, gas, propane, diesel and biodiesel usage, as well as skier transportation to and from the ski area.”

Boston, MA - Olympic Gold Medalist snowboarder Seth Wescott will join Nickelodeon characters SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer as special guests at the American Skiing Company (ASC) Pavilion at the Boston Ski and Snowboard Expo to kick off the 2006-07 winter season. Wescott, who brought home gold in the first-ever Olympic Snowboard Cross last February in Torino, Italy, will be on hand to meet fans and autograph posters on Thursday, Nov. 16 from 7 to 8 p.m.

Christchurch, New Zealand - The Annual New Zealand Snow Sports Awards were held at a gala dinner event in Christchurch on Saturday night. Sixteen-year-old skier Jossi Wells was named Snow Sports Athlete of the Year.
