Italian World Cup Snowboarding Cancelled

San Vigilio di Marebbe, Italy - Warm weather across Europe is wreaking havoc on the World Cup, both skiing and snowboarding. Due to warm weather and lack of snow, the second Parallel Giant Slalom (PGS) of the NOKIA Snowboard FIS World Cup 2006/2007 in San Vigilio di Marebbe, which was scheduled for Sunday, has been cancelled.

Slovenia’s Zuzulova Tops NorAm Ski Racing Podium for Second Straight Day

Winter Park, CO - Veronika Zuzulova of Slovakia took the gold for the second straight day in women’s NorAm ski racing on Wednesday, clocking a two-run combined slalom time of one minute and 29.24 seconds. Terese Borssen of Sweden was second in 1:30.08 and Vanessa Vidal of France was third in 1:30.87.

Big Mountain Opens Ski Season Friday

Whitefish, MT - With more than a foot of new snow, Big Mountain Resort has announced that it will open for a local’s day on Friday, and will kick off the official opening of the ski and snowboard season on Saturday. The northwestern Montana ski and snowboard resort received more than a foot of new snow in Sunday night’s storm, and staff are busily preparing for the planned weekend opening. The resort was originally scheduled to open on Nov. 23, but postponed the opening until Dec. 2 to wait for additional snow accumulation.

Powder Mountain Opens Tonight for Skiing

Eden, UT - Powder Mountain will begin its 35th ski and snowboard season this afternoon when the Sundown Lift opens for night skiing and riding at 4:00 P.M. The Sundown Lift and Lodge are open nightly until 10:00 P.M.
