Disabled Skiing Event Returns to Breckenridge Next Week

Breckenridge, CO - Disabled Sports USA (DS/USA) will host the 19th annual The Hartford Ski Spectacular, the nation’s largest winter sports festival for individuals with physical disabilities, Dec. 3-10 at Colorado’s Breckenridge ski and snowboard resort.

U.S. Ski Team Establishes Italian Training Base

Paganella, Italy - U.S. Ski Team athletes will take advantage of a new on-snow training opportunity beginning this winter. The U.S. Ski Team and the tourism office of the Italian province of Trentino have announced a partnership that will provide the team exclusive on-snow training at the northern Italian resort of Paganella near Andalo and Lago di Molveno.

Moseley to Tour Ski Resorts for Duofold

Winston-Salem, NC - As temperatures continue to drop as the ski season unfolds, base layer apparel manufacturer Duofold and Olympic skiing champion Jonny Moseley are joining forces to help prepare skiers for the upcoming winter season. Hitchcock 3rd, Ciccone 5th in Opening of Women’s NorAm Ski Racing Season

Winter Park, CO - American Katie Hitchcock (Sacramento, CA) ignored light snow Tuesday to finish third with teammate Caitlin Ciccone (Bethlehem, NH) fifth in the opening Chevrolet Super Series women’s slalom of the NorAm ski racing season as six U.S. women broke into the top 20.

New Snow Drapes Ski Slopes of Steamboat

Steamboat Springs, CO - A highly anticipated winter storm brought a heaping of snow to Colorado’s Yampa Valley early Tuesday morning, leaving the Steamboat Ski Area with nine inches of new snow at the summit in the past 24 hours.

IOC Adds Ski Cross, Snubs Women’s Ski Jumping

Kuwait City, Kuwait - The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), meeting in Kuwait City, today announced the inclusion of Ski Cross (SX) for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada. At the same time, despite its stated intention to bring gender equity to the Games, the IOC opted to not approve the inclusion of Women’s Ski Jumping.

Snow Summit Kicks Off 2006-2007 Ski and Snowboard Season Wednesday

Big Bear Lake, CA - After a warmer than normal November, temperatures across the mountains of southern California finally dropped late Friday evening, allowing Big Bear Mountain Resorts to power up its snowmaking system. The season officially begins Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. when skiers and snowboarders hit the Snow Summit slopes.

Roberto 2 for 2 in NorAm Ski Racing at Keystone

Keystone, CO - For the second time in 24 hours, Italy’s Alessandro Roberto won the super Series giant slalom at Colorado’s Keystone ski and snowboard resort. His two-run time was 2:27.84 with Frenchman Steve Missillier second at 2:28.62.
