Whistler (BC), Canada - Film-making becomes an athletic endeavor at Whistlers annual 72 Hour Filmmaker Showdown. The competition, an integral part of the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festivals line-up, challenges artists to perform feats of speed, endurance and precision, with the call to shoot, edit and produce a three- to five-minute minute digital film set within a 100km (62-mile) radius of Whistler in the space of 72 hours.

Steamboat Springs, CO - Steamboats 2006/2007 ski season cumulative snowfall surpassed the 250-inch mark at mid-mountain with a series of storms that has dropped three feet of fresh “champagne powder” snow over the past three days, resort officials reported on Tuesday.

South Lake Tahoe, CA - Northern California ski and snowboard resorts have finally emerged from an epic winter storm that left in its wake up to eight feet of new snow, buried cars, and formed too many perma-grins to count. The storm went out with a bang, dropping as much as four feet after resorts closed Monday night.

Amsterdam, Netherlands - Head N.V., a global
manufacturer and marketer of sports equipment, announced its 4th quarter and 12-month 2006 financial results today. Although net revenues were down 4.2% to 123.3 million in the fourth quarter compared to fourth quarter 2005, operating profit, before restructuring costs, improved by 1.5 million to a profit of 10.6 million. The profit for the period was 3.3 million compared to a profit of 3.5 million in Q4 2005. For the twelve months ended December 31 2006 compared to the twelve months ended December 31 2005, net revenues were up 2.0% to 366.8 million, operating profit before restructuring costs and gain on sale of property increased by 5.1 million to a profit of 20.0 million, and the profit for the period was 4.4 million compared to 6.7 million profit for 2005.
