Canadian Ski Racers to Ride Into Whistler Saturday

Whistler (BC), Canada - Canada’s alpine ski racers are scheduled to arrive in Whistler on Saturday following a grueling 825-kilometer (511-mile) training road bike ride that began June 23rd in Calgary and will end in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games alpine skiing venue.

Cardrona Ski Resort Expands Kids Centers

Wanaka, New Zealand - Cardrona Alpine Resort has expanded its Kids Centre to accommodate from 268 to 448 children per day for the 2007 ski season. The increase is in the 5-8 year and 8-14 year Kids Centres where new facilities mean more children can now enjoy on and off slope supervision at the Canterbury ski and snowboard resort.

Attitash Ski Resort to Invest $2.5M in New Snowmaking

Bartlett, NH - Under the new ownership and leadership of Peak Resorts Inc., a $2.5 million snowmaking enhancement will be added to New Hampshire’s Attitash ski and snowboard resort. One hundred of the latest technology fan guns have been ordered and will be installed top to bottom on Illusion at Bear Peak as well as on several of the primary trails on Attitash.

FIS Approves Rule Changes in Skiing and Snowboarding

Portoroz, Slovenia - At its Spring Meeting held in Portoroz on Monday, the International Skiing Federation (FIS) Council reached a number of important decisions regarding rule changes in alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, nordic combined, freestyle skiing and snowboarding. Additionally, dates and programs were determined for upcoming World Ski and Snowboard Championships and the 2007-08 World Cups, and a new FIS Training Center was named in Italy.

Marker Recalls Demo Ski Bindings

Seattle, WA - Marker has recalled approximately 7,400 pairs of its M1 Demo Ski Bindings in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the government agency has announced. The recall has been issued because skiers can unintentionally displace a lever at the rear of the binding which is used for fitting adjustment by ski technicians. If it is fully displaced, it can result in the unexpected release of the binding and possibly cause the user to fall.
