Jiminy Peak Fall Festival Takes Place Columbus Day Weekend

Hancock, MA - The Annual Jiminy Peak Fall Festival will take place on Columbus Day weekend, Saturday, Sunday and Monday October 6, 7 and 8, 2007. The Fall Festival features a craft fair, the Hancock Fire Department ski and snowboard sale, an outdoor barbeque and job fair. Mountain Sports by Potter Brothers will have sales on apparel and equipment throughout the weekend.

U.S. Disabled Alpine Ski Team Closes Camp in Colorado

Colorado Springs, CO - The U.S. Disabled Alpine Team closed summer camp with its third testing session at the Olympic Training Center (OTC) in Colorado Springs. Only this time, they hung around for the first annual U.S. Paralympics Leadership Symposium for Adaptive Skiing featuring a panel of U.S. stars including Chris Devlin-Young (sit-ski; Campton, NH), Brad Washburn (standup; Littleton, CO), Elitsa Storey (standup; Ketchum, ID) and Allison Jones (standup; Colorado Springs, CO).

Taos Ski Valley, NM - Taos Ski Valley is perhaps the last major North American ski resort still operated by its founding family. Swiss immigrant Ernie Blake developed this tough and remote area after World War II and succeeded in creating a unique ambience via small European-style family lodges and personalized service, particularly the ski school. IÂ’ve skied Taos in 1984, 1993 and 2007, and was fortunate to stay three days at the St. Bernard Lodge in 1993 and spend two days with the ski school and marketing director Adriana Blake, ErnieÂ’s granddaughter, in 2007.
