Utah Pro Skiers Establish Headwear Brand

Salt Lake City, UT - Utah-based big mountain ski stars Julian Carr and Billy Poole have launched several new initiatives for their homegrown headwear brand, Discrete Sport, for the 2007-08 ski and snowboard season including new marketing tactics and a bolstered product line and athlete team.

Terrain Park Jam Series Continues at Belleayre Mountain Ski Center

Highmount, NY - January 6th marks part two of Bellayre Mountain Ski Center’s season-long Terrain Park Jam Series. The next competition will be an Open Park Jam from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. as freestyle skiers and snowboarders test themselves on the jumps as well as the rails.

2 for 1 Wednesdays at Mountain High Lower Cost of Skiing and Snowboarding

Wrightwood, CA - Southern California’s Mountain High ski and snowboard area has announced 2 for 1 Wednesdays, a 10-week promotion designed to give guests a break from the high cost of skiing and snowboarding. Wednesdays will feature weekly events, live music, drink specials, celebrity radio remotes, vendor villages, giveaways and 2 for 1 lift ticket specials. The promotion begins January 9th, and continues every Wednesday through March 12th if not longer, ski area officials indicate.

Zimmermann, Compton Win Second Cross Country Skiing

Houghton, MI - Olympian Leif Zimmermann (Bozeman, MT) and Caitlin Compton (Minneapolis, MN) collected their second national skiing titles Tuesday as the U.S. Cross Country Championships returned to Michigan Tech. A near-record throng of 450-plus skiers have registered for the championships.

December Snowfall in Aspen Breaks Record

Aspen, CO - Aspen/Snowmass has broken its all-time record for the most snowfall in the month of December at the Colorado ski and snowboard resort. With 118 inches (300 centimeters) falling last month at the top of Snowmass – that’s nearly 10 feet of snow – the 1983-1984 record of 117 inches has officially been broken.
