Lahti, Finland - High winds forced yet another cancellation on the FIS Nordic Combined World Cup Saturday as the sprint event in Lahti was blown out. The loss of the event clinched the World Cup title for German Ronny Ackermann, who holds a 237 point lead over the U.S. Ski Team’s Bill Demong (Vermontville, VT) with two events remaining.

Zwiesel, Germany - High winds, heavy rain and lighting forced organizers to push Saturday’s World Cup slalom skiing to Sunday. The giant slalom also set for the weekend was cancelled and will not be rescheduled, securing the World Cup GS title for Italy’s Denise Karbon.

Kvitfjell, Norway - American ski racer Bode Miller (Bretton Woods, NH) held the lead the entire length of the Olympiabakken downhill Saturday to win a U.S. record 31st World Cup. The victory, his sixth of the season, moved him within five points of World Cup downhill leader Didier Cuche of Switzerland, who finished second, for the downhill lead with one race remaining.

Whistler Blackcomb Mountain’s are gearing up for 30cm of snow the first weekend of March. After a window of sunshine, while TELUS presents the Whistler World Cup, snow is returning in full force.

Zwiesel, Germany - World Cup overall leader Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO) remains 54 points ahead of Austrian Nicole Hosp, the same margin she held going into the weekend, as storms forced organizers to scrap both the slalom and giant slalom races scheduled for Saturday and Sunday in Zwiesel. With only two weeks remaining in the World Cup ski racing season, the races will not be rescheduled.

Kvitfjell, Norway - World Cup ski racing’s overall leader Bode Miller (Bretton Woods, NH) added some distance on Swiss chaser Didier Cuche and Austrian Benni Raich after finishing second, 0.12 seconds ahead of Cuche in third, in the Kvitfjell super G on the 1994 Olympic course.
