Belleayre Ski Center Breaks Ground on New Adaptive Snowsports Building

Highmount, NY - Belleayre Mountain has started construction of a building near Overlook Lodge that will serve as the new home for the ski area’s fast growing adaptive snowsports program. Belleayre’s program for disabled skiing and snowboarding will now have a new handicapped accessible building to house its operation.

Massucco Says Goodbye to Aerials Skiing

Park City, UT - After four years with the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team, 2006 NorAm aerials champion Tim Massucco (East Otis, MA) is retiring from competition, according to Freestyle Program Director Polly-Jo Clark.

Snowbird Extends Ski and Snowboard Seaon Through Mid-June

Snowbird, UT - Utah’s longest ski and snowboard season just got longer at Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort. Resort officials announced this week that the Utah resort will be open for skiing and riding on weekends through Sunday, June 15, conditions permitting.

Eight U.S. Ski Resorts Recognized for Environmental Efforts

San Francisco, CA - Jiminy Peak has been honored with the 2008 Golden Eagle Award for Overall Environmental Excellence by a ski resort, awarded by energy foods-maker Clif Bar at the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) Annual Convention and Trade Show being held this week in San Francisco. The award hails the Massachusetts ski and snowboard resort for installing a wind turbine — a first for a ski resort in North America — that provides nearly half of the ski area’s total electricity needs.

2007-08 Ski Season a Record Breaker in the U.S.
