Golding Retires from U.S. Freestyle Ski Team

Park City, UT - After four years with the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team, former NorAm dual moguls champion McKenzy Golding (Squaw Valley, CA) is retiring from the sport, according to Freestyle Program Director Polly-Jo Clark.

Snowfall Opens All Four Lake Wanaka-Area Ski Fields

Wanaka, New Zealand - Lake Wanaka’s 2008 ski season is officially underway with all four ski areas now open for business. Following a warm and wet start to the season, good snowfalls and optimal snowmaking conditions throughout the past week have provided the mountains with snow for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy their first turns for the season.

New Direct Flights to B.C.’s New Revelstoke Ski Resort

Revelstoke (BC), Canada - Revelstoke Mountain Resort (RMR) has announced a new partnership with Hawkair Aviation for flights between Calgary and Revelstoke this coming ski and snowboard season. Scheduled air service between Calgary International Airport and Revelstoke Airport will commence on December 8th, 2008.

The high-speed, six-passenger chairlift will be running extended hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., July 12 – 13.

Recap of the Woodlot trailday

Last Saturday, the Fraser Valley Mountain Bikers Association (FVMBA) held a trail maintenance and cleanup day at Woodlot 0007. We had between 25 and 30 people show up and it was nice to see people coming from out of town — there were a good number of folks from North Van.

GearJammer shifts into overdrive

Organizers of Squamish’s other mountain bike race, The GearJammer, predict this year’s race, which will be held on July 26, will eclipse previous races.

“Given the groundwork done by the Gearheads, our organizing committee, and the success of the Test of Metal this year, we anticipate this year’s race to be bigger and better than any other GearJammer,” said race director Curtis Roberts.
