While wandering the Outdoor Demo we spotted an oasis of shade and beer at the Hayes tent, and while under that tent we also spotted a new big-power brake from the Hayes boy’s. At last year’s Interbike show, Rocky Mountain unveiled their new DH platform - the Flatline. Since that time, the bike has gained quite a following from the gravity crowd and I’ve even seen an all new Geoff Gulevich signature model frame that will be out in a few months.

North Creek, NY - Gore Mountain in North Creek, N.Y. will use a helicopter to install towers for a new high speed quad chairlift on Wednesday, to service the Burnt Ridge section of the Adirondack ski center, set to open in December. The following day, Whiteface Mountain, 10 miles from Lake Placid in Wilmington, will follow suit when 16 towers will be inserted to hoist a fixed grip triple chair servicing the new Lookout Mountain ski and snowboard terrain pod.

Mt. Ruapehu, New Zealand - Around 30 very brave skiers and snowboarders shunned sub-freezing temperatures to take part in this year’s Rip Curl/K2 Bikini Downhill at Turoa Ski Area over the weekend. The event raises funds for Breast Cancer Research and kicks off October’s Awareness Month.

Killington, VT - Burton Snowboards has unveiled plans to build The Stash, a new terrain park at Vermont’s Killington ski resort created by Jake Burton and Burton team riders that utilizes the natural terrain, local wood products and organic features. The first run of its kind in New England and Burton’s home state of Vermont, The Stash at Killington is slated to open to the public on December 19th.
