‘Hermanator’ Back Atop World Cup Ski Racing Podium in Lake Louise

Lake Louise (AB), Canada - Austria’s Hermann Maier is back on top, winning Sunday’s World Cup super G ski race at the Bombardier Lake Louise Winterstart in Canada. The race marked Maier’s 54th World Cup victory, his 24th in super G and his first since 2003.

Stirling Grassick Update

If you haven’t heard of Stirling Grassick then you’d better wake up a little. He is a 16 year old shredder from Kelowna BC. Stirling and I have traveled around BC to many gatherings and competitions.

This was Stirling’s first year excelling in competition riding and he placed very well at all the events he attended. Read on to learn more about what he’s been up to.

Tough Jumps Hamper U.S. Ski Team in Opener

Kuusamo, Finland - Bill Demong (Vermontville, NY) and Johnny Spillane (Steamboat Springs, CO) led the way for the U.S. Nordic Combined Ski Team as they finished 27th and 28th in the first World Cup competition of the season.

Newell 11th in Kuusamo Sprint

Kuusamo, Finland - The U.S. Ski Team’s Andy Newell (Shaftsbury, VT) kicked off the first World Cup classic sprint of the season with an 11th place finish Saturday in Finland. Norway swept the men’s podium.

Tessa Worley from France in Saturday’s 2008 Aspen Winternational Giant Slalom

Aspen, CO - First time podium finisher, Tessa Worley bested the world’s top female skiers completing the course with a combined time of 2:12:86 to win Saturday’s Giant Slalom in the 2008 Aspen Winternational Audi FIS Women’s Alpine World Cup ski race. Worley was 0.28 seconds faster than the second place finisher.

Lanning Leads U.S. Ski Team in Lake Louise With Career Best

Lake Louise (AB), Canada - The U.S. Ski Team’s TJ Lanning (Park City, UT) came through with a personal best to lead American ski racers, finishing ninth in the Audi FIS downhill in Lake Louise on Saturday. Italian Peter Fill picked up his first World Cup win, while Erik Guay (Mont-Tremblant, QC) finished tenth to lead the host Canadian team in the Bombardier Lake Louise Winterstart, good enough for the second best result of his career.
