Free Avalanche Awareness Classes Scheduled Along Wasatch Front

Salt Lake City, UT - A pair of free avalanche awareness classes have been scheduled along the Wasatch Front to fill a critical need for basic avalanche education for all backcountry and sidecountry skiers and snowboarders in Utah.

2010 NorAm Cup Starts at Loveland Monday

Georgetown, CO - The 2010 Alpine NorAm Cup, a steppingstone tour for aspiring World Cup ski racers, opens the season at Colorado’s Loveland Ski Area with men’s slalom races on Monday and Tuesday and women’s slalom races this Wednesday and Thursday.

Lanning Recovering in Calgary Hospital with Dislocated Knee, Broken Neck

Calgary, Canada - U.S. Ski Team racer TJ Lanning of Park City, Utah, who was injured Saturday during a crash in the opening downhill of the Audi FIS Alpine World Cup season, is recovering in a Calgary hospital. According to U.S. Ski Team Medical Director Richard Quincy, Lanning suffered a dislocated left knee and non-displaced fracture of a vertebrae in his neck.

GPS Innovation Helps Canadian Alpine Ski Teams

Calgary, Canada - It’s an invention that could drastically change the way many athletes train but until now, the developers couldn’t talk publicly about it. Engineers at the University of Calgary’s Schulich School of Engineering have just wrapped up a top-secret project aimed at helping Canada’s Olympic alpine skiers train for the 2010 Olympic Games.

Manninen Takes Nordic Combined Win at Kuusamo

Kuusamo, Finland - Hannu Manninen of Finland made his second appearance on the World Cup podium in as many days as he won the nordic combined skiing competition in his own country on Sunday. Manninen was followed by Tino Edelmann of Germany in second, and Eric Frenzel, also of Germany, for his second third-place finish in a row.

Freeman Fourth for Career Best Cross Country World Cup Finish

Kuusamo, Finland - Kris Freeman of Andover, N.H. launched himself to a career-best finish in a World Cup cross country ski race in Finland on Sunday, working his way just shy of the podium to finish fourth in a 15K classic in Finland.

Lamy Chappuis Takes World Cup Nordic Combined Win in Finland

Kuusamo, Finland - The World Cup nordic combined ski season kicked off Saturday in Kuusamo with Jason Lamy Chappuis of France winning the event. Hannu Manninen of Finland was second and Eric Frenzel of Germany.
