Each year you can expect to see new things unveiled from the SRAM corporation at the Sea Otter Classic. This year’s focus was on the 2X10 and an invite only party on the beach. Acros has been on the scene for 10 years now and has recently been on our radar a lot for their high end mountain bike components. This German brand is pushing quality parts and we’re into them. At the Otter we were able to take a few minutes and talk with them about some of their finer mountain bike products.

Kyle Strait was in attendance at the Sea Otter Classic 2010 representing his new team, team Lifestyle Excessive / Pivot Cycles. His new race rigs looked great and clearly worked with a 6th in Dual Slalom and 17th in DH.

Airborne Bicycles has been reborn and their lineup is filled with well thought out and price conscience models. They had their 6″ travel Marauder on display at this year’s Sea Otter Classic and we took some time to have a closer look at it.

Riders are going to be stoked to be a part of The Camp of Champions for another reason this summer. COC is building their own private Mulch Pit and Dirt Jumps. Head Coach Gareth Dyer, who has made dirt and wood do his bidding before, building dirt jumps at places such as Woodward, will be supervising and building the new addition to the Camp of Champions 18,000 square foot Compound.

Now in its 3rd year, the NZDJO was set to be a Banger event for 2010. With riders converging to Woodhill Mountain bike Park in Auckland Nz, from all over the country. This event was truly going to go down in the books as one of the biggest and best events to date.

A new year, a new season and another round of racing from the Scottish Downhill Association. As in 2009, things kicked off at the Aberdeenshire venue of Pitfichie.
Pitfichie has always been an odd one. Whilst the SDA events are traditionally attended by numerous riders from south of Hadrian’s wall, this is a venue that has always seen a smaller proportion, no doubt due in part to its more Northern latitude compared to the rest of the venues on the calendar, Fort William included. But where Fort William has a rather handy Gondola to take you to the top, at Pitfichie the uplift is human powered; i.e., you push! Still, it’s not something that puts off the Scottish riders, with a maximum capacity entry list, and there were the majority of the usual faces around in the camping field at the bottom of the hill.

Salt Lake City, UT - Boutique ski manufacturer DPS has announced its second DPS Rider’s Weekend, and the first in Las Leñas, Argentina, from Aug. 21-22, 2010. The event will gather those with a passion for big mountains and powder to hang out, ski, tell stories, share meals, talk shop, and enjoy one another’s company.
