As Mega Avalanche 2010 approaches nearer and nearer the past 3 weeks has really been a rollercoaster ride and a half - from great times to really bad times! I write this blog absolutely gutted, gripping onto hope that will hopefully keep me going for the next few weeks!

This past weekend Pinkbike was at the US Open at Diablo Freeride Park in Vernon, New Jersey to capture all the action. Meanwhile back on the West Coast, there was an Island Cup DH race in Parksville and a Fluidride DH in Whistler.

Giant Slalom is a pretty unique event, especially when compared to its more commonly seen relative Dual Slalom. It’s really all up to you. Your on a course by yourself, with nothing but your own brakes slowing you down. When the time comes you have to choose how fast to go, and in turn that decides what position you finish it. Here’s a video that Ambrose Weingart put together showcasing the US Open’s Giant Slalom course, and event.

North Woodstock, NH - Ski New Hampshire has compiled this past winter’s visits to the state’s ski and snowboard resorts and has announced a total of 2,228,571 alpine skier and snowboarder visits, a decline of 2.6% from the winter of 2008-09, which itself was the third best on record for skier visits in New Hampshire.
