Queenstown, New Zealand - The inaugural Coca-Cola Cardrona Games got underway today at the New Zealand ski and snowboard resort with U.S. Winter Olympian and X-Games gold medalist Nate Holland winning the mens snowboarding Gravity X event as Wanakas own Winter Olympian Juliane Bray won the womens event. In the ski category of the Gravity X, Canadian Winter Olympian Trennon Paynter took the mens title while Australias Janina Kuzma won the event for the women.

Queenstown, New Zealand - The rugged alpine peaks of The Remarkables ski area will be the backdrop this week for the 2006 New Zealand National Snowboard Championships. On Thursday, 150 riders from New Zealand and around the globe will line up to compete in the three-day event.

Queenstown, New Zealand - Good snow means coaches and athletes can get a lot accomplished at a preseason training camp. U.S. alpine ski team men have had good snow at New Zealand’s Coronet Peak ski and snowboard resort all month. And when conditions wavered a bit, coaches worked into the night to solidify things for the next morning’s training.
