Whistler Bound

Well it’s finally time, after almost two years away to return to Canada and get back to Whistler for some snowboarding. Its been a fun two years. I’ve been to Spain, Portugal and Thailand for a month of travel, Australai for a month, New Zealand for 2 weeks, Australia for 6 months, Fiji for two weeks, Australia for 3 months, New Zealand for 8 months and finally Australia for 2 more months.
It’s been snowing pretty hard for almost two weeks now in Whistler so the conditions are looking pretty good. I hope it keeps up. I arrive in Vancouver early on tuesday Jan. 17th and will catch a bus up to Whistler later that day. I’ve already got a place sorted out to live in just a few minutes walk to the runs on Blackcomb.

Bring on the powder!!!

Christmas in Australia

xmas0003.JPGWell it’s Boxing Day in Australia. Had a pretty good Christmas. But it just does’t feel the same without the cold weather. I spent the day in board shorts and flip flops. The weather wasn’t great, but was probably 25 celcius with a mix of sun and clouds. Ok in Canada it would have been a pretty nice day, but in Australia in the middle of summer, not so good.

So anyways, Read the rest of this entry »

The day I caught the biggest waves of my life

nz2005a0039.JPG nz2005a0042.JPG
It was a nice day. A big storm and passed through the two previous days and I decided to find a beach that faced north. I looked at my guide book for New Zealand surf breaks and decided on a nice river mouth break that can handle a good size swell and offers nice long right rides. I woke up early and found that it was a nice 4-6 with light offshore winds. Went for a long 3 hour surf and had a blast. I fell way to many times but right hand breaks are not good for me (I love lefts). Had some lunch and waited around a bit cause my arms were tired and I knew I’d only have time and energy for one more surf anyway. Read the rest of this entry »

Winter in Wanaka

Wanka in WinterWell, we’re in Wanaka, New Zealand for the ski and snowboard season. We’re a Canadian from Vancouver and an Aussie from South Australia. We had high hopes for the upcoming snowboard season. We arrived in late May to 30 centimeters of new snow. The mountains weren’t scheduled to open for another three weeks so needless to say we were quite happy about the prospects for good snow this season. We have already purchased seasons passes for Treble Cone, the steepest mountain in New Zealand. Read the rest of this entry »
