January Storm Season Inspires New Whistler Photo Contest

ARC’TERYX and Whistler Blackcomb will present the inaugural Deep Winter Photo Challenge January 3 through 6, 2007. The contest celebrates the typical January weather systems that pelt the majestic Coast Mountain Range with storms, leaving behind epic powder days and deep tree skiing throughout the winter months.

Canadian Skiing Authorities Collaborate on Ski Cross

Vancouver (BC), Canada - In anticipation of the inclusion of ski cross to the Vancouver 2010 sport program, the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association (CFSA) and Alpine Canada Alpin (ACA) announced yesterday their partnership to integrate the event of ski cross into the Canadian high performance system with the goal of winning medals in 2010.

Canada’s Women Ski Jumpers Fight for Equality

Vancouver, Canada - Women ski jumpers in Canada are jumping mad over the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Executive Board decision announced Nov. 28 to deny inclusion of Women’s Ski Jumping as an event at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver.

Whistler Blackcomb opened their new Symphony Express high speed detachable quad today for scores of eager skiers and riders. The new lift, accessing 1,000 acres of pristine alpine bowls and gladed sub-alpine forest filled with thigh deep snow, began turning shortly after 11am.

Whistler Ski Runs Pick Up Nearly Two Feet of Snow in 24 Hours

Whistler (BC), Canada - Christmas came early for skiers and snowboarders at Whistler Blackcomb today as yet another powerful Pacific storm slammed into the Pacific Northwest, blanketing the Whistler Blackcomb area with 58 centimeters or 23 inches of fresh powder in the past 24 hours, adding to NovemberÂ’s record breaking snowfall.

Deep, fluffy powder on the menu for Saturday’s Symphony Express Grand Opening. Christmas came early for skiers and snowboarders at Whistler Blackcomb today. A strong Pacific storm blanketed the area with 58 centimetres or 23 inches of fresh powder in the past 24 hours, adding to November’s record breaking snowfall and bringing anticipation for the grand opening of Symphony Express this weekend to a fever pitch. Whistler Blackcomb has received an incredible 5.8 metres or 19 feet of snowfall since November 1.

Holiday spirit soars as Whistler Blackcomb’s annual ‘Santa Day’ kicks off Saturday, December 23.
