November Snowfall at Whistler Sets Ski Resort Record

Whistler (BC), Canada - November 2006 will go down in history books in Whistler as the snowiest November ever. With 416 centimeters or 13 feet and six inches of snowfall recorded during the month, the prior November record of 272 centimeters or 107 inches was crushed, setting a new high for early season snowfall. This month’s snowfall has created phenomenal conditions for an excellent winter season at the B.C. ski and snowboard resort.

VANOC to consider adding ski cross to 2010 Winter Games sport program

Snow keeps falling in Whistler on Blackcomb’s opening day

Blackcomb Mountain opened at 8:15am this morning for the 06/07 winter season amid a heavy snowstorm in Whistler Village. Over 7,500 skiers and boarders on Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains enjoyed the 15 centimetres or six inches of snow that fell overnight, bringing the seven day snowfall total to 150 centimetres or 59 inches. The current snowbase as measured mid-mountain sits at 170 centimetres or 67 inches.

Whistler Blackcomb’s Symphony Express Grand Opening set for December 16, 2006

Whistler Blackcomb has announced a Symphony Express Golden Ticket contest that will provide 16 lucky winners with first access to the Symphony Express on its grand opening, Saturday December 16. Coming in at over $9 million, the new Symphony Express high speed quad chair is Whistler Blackcomb’s largest single investment within the $22.1 million spent on capital and maintenance projects for the 2006/07 season. The Symphony Express will run from the bottom of Flute Bowl to the peak of Piccolo on Whistler Mountain and will access over 1,000 acres of high alpine terrain.

Blackcomb Mountain Opens Thursday in the midst of record november snowfall in Whistler

Blackcomb Mountain will open this Thursday, November 23 in the midst of a record November snowfall, and in time for the US Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Currently digging out from back-to-back storm cycles, which are dumping significant snowfalls onto the mountains, Whistler Blackcomb is having one of its best openings in memory.

2010 Olympic Freestyle Skiing Venues Competition Ready
